In Adelaide, South Australia, there is a public university called Flinders University. It was established in 1966 and is called in honour of the explorer and surveyor of the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century, Matthew Flinders.

Scholarship Benefits

If more than one scholarship is awarded based on candidate ranks and available money, the amount of each grant will not exceed $3,000 but may be less depending on the needs of the successful applicant(s).

No individual will receive more than one scholarship per year. The trustees of the AFUW-SA Inc. Trust Fund reserve the right not to award a scholarship in extraordinary circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria

You must meet the general eligibility criteria and regulations of the Diamond Jubilee Scholarship at the Flinders University for you to be eligible which include:

  • Be studying a postgraduate degree that is equivalent to a Master’s degree. This must be supported by research or a thesis; and
  • Having completed at least six months equivalent full-time study for their master’s degree; and
  • Have a solid academic record as an undergraduate; and
  • Not be employed full-time or on paid leave throughout the duration of the scholarship; and
  • Not having received a grant or prize in the same category in 2022; and
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia.

There are no restrictions on study areas. Scholarships granted by organisations other than the AFUW-SA Inc. Trust Fund may be held concurrently.

How to apply

The application forms for the 2023 scholarships will be available on the AFUW-SA Inc Trust Fund website beginning in early January.
