The RA Simpson International Scholarship was made possible by a donation from the family of the late Mr. Robert Allen Simpson, a founding member of the Flinders University Council and recipient of an honorary degree.
The goal of the award is to support students in completing a portion of their academic program abroad. The objective is to supplement their Flinders University education with an international perspective.

About the Flinders University
Flinders University is located in Adelaide, South Australia. It was founded in 1966 and named after Matthew Flinders, who explored and mapped the South Australian coastline in the early nineteenth century.
Flinders is a verdant university[citation needed] and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group, ranking 10-16 in Australia and 36th in the world among universities founded in the last 50 years. The university pioneered a cross-disciplinary approach to teaching, and its faculties of medicine and the humanities are considered among the top 10 in the country.
Scholarship Benefit
Each semester, one or more scholarships worth either $1,000 (for the semester) or $500 (for the short term) will be given out, depending on funds. The RA Simpson Memorial Fund Management Committee will decide how many scholarships will be given out.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at Flinders University; and
- Have successfully completed:
- at least 36 units towards the bachelor’s degree for which the award is being pursued; or
- an appropriate undergraduate degree from Flinders University, if applying for a scholarship to pursue a program of study during an Honours year; or
- minimum of 18 units in the postgraduate coursework program for which the scholarship is being sought; and
- at least 36 units towards the bachelor’s degree for which the award is being pursued; or
- Be engaged in full-time studies while studying abroad; and
- Acceptance for the Flinders University Exchange program or a recognized short-term mobility program; and
- Have their abroad study count towards their Flinders University degree program; and
- Not have received a RA Simpson International Scholarship earlier.

- Exchange program candidates
A scholarship application for the Flinders University Exchange Program will be evaluated for this award. Scholarships for semester or yearly exchanges do not require a separate application. Before submitting an application, interested students should speak with their College Office to ensure that their chosen course of study is eligible for credit towards their Flinders University course.
- Short term applicants for mobility
For each semester, applications must be submitted electronically through the Flinders University Student System by the stipulated deadline.
