TWAS-IsDB 2023 Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme for African Countries

The 2022 Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme was launched by the World Academy of Sciences (UNESCO-TWAS) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

The 2022 Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme was launched by the World Academy of Sciences (UNESCO-TWAS) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

Nominations for the Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme for Women are being sought by the World Academy of Sciences (UNESCO-TWAS) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

The Program intends to assist talented young female scientists up to the age of 40 from an IsDB member country who are now refugees or displaced. Candidates chosen will be appointed as TWAS Young Affiliates. The affiliation status is valid for six years, and the new Young Affiliates will be admitted to the famous TWAS Young Affiliates Network (TYAN).

About The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)

TWAS was established in 1983 by a prominent group of scientists from the developing world, led by Pakistani physicist and Nobel laureate Abdus Salam.

They shared the view that developing countries could address difficulties such as hunger, sickness, and poverty by strengthening their scientific and engineering capabilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the TWAS-IsDB Young Refugee and Displaced Scientists Programme in 2022-2023 must:

  • Be up to around 40 years of age.
  • Be a national, former national, or stateless person from one of the IsDB member countries.
  • Have been forced to leave her home country or city.
  • Hold a PhD.

  • Resident card of your current residence country (if applicable)
  • Any additional document that could support your application (e.g. letter of recommendation)

  • Applications with no CV will be deemed ineligible.
