Direct Entry into Private Universities

JAMB Direct Entry is mostly for students who already possess a diploma certificate and would want to enroll in a university to achieve a degree certificate.

Students who are given admission into a university through Direct Entry (DE) will mostly begin in the 200-level department in the university of their choice in which they were provided with an admission.

What Exactly is Jamb Direct Entry?

university direct entryDirect Entry is a mode of entry into any Nigerian University that gives the individual the privilege of starting from the 200-level department of the university they chose.

unlike, the popular admission when students obtain UTME and sit for the Jamb/Post UTME, the student will only gain admission into 100 level department of their course.

on the other hand, if the student gets the direct entry form and subsequently gains admission, he/she is expected to begin from 200 level academical session.

However, this depends on the entry qualification you used to gain admission.

Requirement for JAMB Direct Entry (DE)

Direct Entry candidates may be considered if they have one of the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) credit passes at Principal or Advanced level in not more than two sittings, with at least two mandated courses (for each discipline) at Principal or Advanced level. At both the Ordinary and Advanced Levels, no course may be counted twice.
  • SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalents in three other topics at the Advanced-Level Examination of the IJMB, Cambridge, JUPEB, or Institute of Baccalaureate with SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalents in two other subjects (in prescribed subjects for each field).
  • NCE with S.C.E. passes in two major courses, NTC/NBC credits or equivalents in THREE additional subjects (mostly for Education Courses), and ND. Education may be approved as a third A’ Level topic for education courses.
  • O’Level requirements and a minimum of a lower credit grade in a National Diploma or National Innovation Diploma

Which University Accepts Direct Entry Application?

All Universities in Nigerian are expected to accept the direct entry application from students and offer them admission.

It does not matter if the Universities is a Federal or State Universities or private owned institution.

Where Can I Obtain Direct Entry Form?

Direct entry scratch is mostly sold by JAMB, and it can be gotten from the various banks in Nigeria. Just like the case of UTME cards. When the form is out, you can get it in any bank selected bank and complete the form in the any cafe.

Kindly note that: You may not need to go to any University before you can get their direct entry form.

You can get it from JAMB office or any selected bank that sells it, then fill it online. Thereafter, submit you document to Jamb office.
