EPSO wishes to stimulate the growth of ideas and inventive thinking in plant sciences and, as such, provides two grants to young scientists to attend the Science Day of the EPSO General Meeting, which will be held in a member city (in Europe) in June 2023.
EPSO, or the European Plant Science Organisation, is an autonomous academic organization that now represents 70 institutional members from 31 countries in Europe and beyond.
The objective of EPSO is to increase the influence and visibility of plant research throughout Europe. EPSO’s key aims are to advise on scientific policy toward a strategic approach and critical mass funding for fundamental and applied research across Europe, to coordinate research efforts at the national and European levels – and beyond – and to promote plant science awareness.

The European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO) is an independent academic organization that now has 70 institutional members, representing over 200 research institutions, departments, and universities from 31 countries throughout Europe and beyond.

Scholarship Benefit
- The awards will include registration (waived by the Local Host) and travel to the conference (economy, max. €400, paid by EPSO), as well as the chance to offer a presentation on the winner’s research during a plenary session of the Science Day.
- EPSO will provide each awardee with €200.

Eligibility Criteria
The abstracts that have been submitted will be used to choose the winners. The following will be the selection criteria:
- The novelness of the concept or technique being used
- The research’s potential to increase understanding or results in the chosen subject of plant science.
- The clarity with which a non-specialist plant scientist understands the problem or study topic.
How to apply
PhD applicants who wish to apply should submit a completed Application Form together with their abstract and a brief curriculum vitae. The EPSO panel will choose two winners, one from basic research and the other from applied research.
