The Department of Health and Safety Education was created in November, 2019, from the defunct Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education.
The Department aims: “to provide students with a high quality academic education and a balanced set of values, based on the best educational principles, so as to prepare our students for citizenship and professional life in a world of diversity, competition and change”.
The Department of Health and Safety Education is committed to ensuring that all Students graduate with the knowledge and skills required to succeed as contributing citizens in our communities in this 21st century.
The Departmental Academic Programme is planned to motivate and also challenge our Students, and this programme is driven by equity and the highest possible learning expectations for our Students.

In the Department all learning experiences are academically demanding and are envisioned to prepare our Students for success in citizenship, career and also in the world of work. In the Department, Student-centered learning is at the heart of all they do.
All Delsu students are guided to create and sustain personal learning plans that provides ample opportunities to connect their interests, passions, and future ambitions to courses, independent studies and other experiences.
These learning pathways reflect the highest academic expectations, regardless of whether the students are learning in school or out in the community.
All students are encourage to engaged in co-curricular activities such as basketball, soccer, football, hockey, debate, student government, drama club among others.
The curriculum offered in the Department follows the Nigerian University Commission (NUC) BMAS. Our graduates often times describe themselves as: smart, enthusiastic, competitive, motivated, dedicated, valued, united, friendly and belonging to a community.
