Why Choose DELSU?

Choosing DELSU means becoming part of a diverse community dedicated to academic and personal growth. It’s like a melting pot of cultures and knowledge, enriching each student with a unique experience. Still thinking about it? Let’s make that decision easier!

Choosing a course to study in the great prestigious University of Delsu, is one of the peak moments of any serious student.

It is the first step towards actualizing your dream of becoming a graduate.

Delta State University is a magnet for every serious student in Nigeria who really wants to get in and get out of the higher institution without much fear of academical and non- academical strikes.

The University provides a serene environment for studying and encourages the making of long-term connections.

In fact there are quite a number of celebrities who are the byproducts of the great Delta State University.

The likes of Ayodeji Richard Makun (popularly known as AY), Bovi Ugboma (popularly known as Bovi) and many more, are individuals whom the school has one way or another prepared for the labor market.

But first things first, do you have the requirements to apply for your preferred course of study?

It’s one thing to have a desire for a particular course and another thing to have the requirements for that intended course.

Delta State University (DELSU) Admission Requirements

All aspiring students seeking admission into Delta State University must posses the below requirements.

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age or above to gain admission into delsu.
  • Applicants must have cleared at least five (5) (WAEC SSCE/GCE O’LEVEL/NECO) subjects at not more than two sittings, which includes English Language, Mathematics and any other relevant subjects that applies to your specific course of study.
  • Prospective Applicants must also meet all DELSU faculty and Departmental requirements.
  • Aspiring Students must have scored at least 180 in his/her JAMB to qualify for an internal screening in the University.
  • Applicants with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with credits passes and/or merit levels in addition to their credit passes in relevant O’ Level, GCE, WASCE, SSCE and NECO may be considered.

There’s one more issue I would love to point out and that’s the issue of change of Courses.

Change of course is sometimes not always approved in any University especially when the applicants did not meet the University’s jamb cut off mark.

And also, in a situation where the students credential is not suitable for the new course, he/she applied for, it will most likely not be approved.

Now that you have successfully verified the requirements for admission into Delta State University, it is very important you understand what your course of study is all about.

It is advisable you make personal research on the career prospects of your intending course.

We highly recommend you read the below post before you continue.

You should also put your O’level subjects and the UTME subject combination in perspective.

And in addition to all we’ve talked about, it will also be wise to know the competitiveness of your course of study by checking the total number of candidates that applied for that course in the previous year.

If you are still not clear concerning the explanation, we have tried to pass across above, you should probably consult the assistance of an educational adviser.

Gone are those days when there was likely no competition among applicants seeking admission into the University.

Then their focus was all about getting admitted into a federal University, and the State Universities were not really sort after.

Today all that analogy has changed in Nigeria due to the fact that, there are only few spaces available in higher institutions.
