About the University of Winnipeg
The University of Winnipeg (UWinnipeg) is a public university in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada that offers undergraduate and graduate programs in art, business and economics, education, science and kinesiology, and applied health. Manitoba College and Wesley College founded UWinnipeg, which merged to form United College in 1938.
When United College received its charter in 1967, it became the University of Winnipeg. The governance was modeled after the provincial University of Toronto Act of 1906, which established a bicameral system of university government consisting of a senate (faculty) responsible for academic policy and a board of governors (citizens) with sole control over financial policy and formal authority over all other matters.

Eligibility Criteria
Some awards will be applied automatically based on your admission average, while others will necessitate an application. Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for awards:
- Applicants must have a grade point average of at least 85% in the grade 12 high school courses used for general admission.
- Not have previously attended any other post-secondary institute other than for dual credit high school/post-secondary courses.
- Students admitted on the basis of letters of permission or post-secondary transfer credits from other post-secondary institutions will be ineligible.
- Submit a UWinnipeg admission application no later than 6 months after graduating from high school.
- Submit a completed admission application, including all application fees and supporting documentation, by the award eligibility deadline for the desired first term of study.
- Have not been chosen for any other UWinnipeg entrance awards. New international students who have received multiple UWinnipeg award offers will receive only one entrance award, whichever is the most valuable.
- Once selected for an International Special Entrance Scholarship, students must enroll in the minimum number of credit hours required for their first term of study:
- Fall term start: Enroll in at least 9 credit hours in both the fall and winter terms of the first academic year.
- Winter term start: Enroll in a minimum of 9 credit hours in the winter term and either a minimum of 6 credit hours (6-8 weeks) in the following spring term or a minimum of 9 credit hours in the following fall term.
- Spring term start: Enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours lasting 6-8 weeks in the following spring term, or a minimum of 9 credit hours in the following fall term.
