About The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)
TWAS was established in 1983 by a prominent group of scientists from the developing countries, led by the Pakistani physicist and Nobel Prize winner Abdus Salam.
They believed that by strengthening science and engineering, developing nations might acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to overcome issues like as hunger, disease, and poverty.
Italian scientists and political leaders provided the Academy with crucial assistance from the beginning.
Scholarship Benefit
S.N. Bose will pay a monthly stipend for food and living expenses. The monthly allowance is not convertible to foreign currencies. On-campus housing will be given for free. The monthly allowance does not cover complete medical coverage. However, the Centre deducts a little amount for a Contributory Medical Program.
The benefits consist of a partial reimbursement of doctor’s fees, medicines, and/or hospitalization expenses, if applicable, incurred in Kolkata. The reimbursement scheme resembles the Central Government Health Plan (CGHS) of the Indian government.
