International Excellence Scholarships in Psychology at the University of Leeds in the UK for 2022/2023

The Psychology International Excellence Scholarships is an automatic scholarship that will take the form of a tuition fee reduction and will be offered to undergraduate students who have achieved AAA or above on their A levels (or equivalent). Students from other countries are welcome to submit an application for this scholarship.

The scholarship is devoted to attracting the smartest and best students from all over the world, regardless of background.

About The University of Leeds

The University of Leeds in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, is a public research university. It was established as the Yorkshire College of Science in 1874.

In 1884, the university merged with the 1831-founded Leeds School of Medicine and was renamed Yorkshire College. In 1887, the University of Leeds joined Owens College (which later became the University of Manchester) and University College Liverpool to form the federal Victoria University (which became the University of Liverpool).

King Edward VII granted the University of Leeds a royal charter in 1904. The institution has 36,330 students, making it the fifth largest in the United Kingdom (out of 169).

From 2006 until the present, the institution has consistently been among the top five in the United Kingdom for the number of applications received, alongside the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Edinburgh.

Notable graduates include Piers Sellers, a NASA astronaut; Keir Starmer, the current Leader of the Labour Party; Jack Straw, a former Secretary of State; Sayeeda Warsi, a former Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party; Keir Starmer, the current Leader of the Labour Party; and six Nobel Laureates.

In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, the University of Leeds was rated joint 19th (along with the University of St. Andrews) amongst multi-faculty institutions in the UK for the quality (GPA) of its research, and it was rated 10th for its Research Power. Both of these rankings were based on the research output of the institution.

The institution fell two places from its prior 2014 position as the eighth most targeted university in the United Kingdom by graduate employers to the tenth most targeted university in that country during the 2014–2015 academic year.

According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the year 2021, Leeds University came in at position 153. According to the CWTS Leiden Ranking, the University of Leeds is now ranked 84th in the world.

According to the QS World University Rankings for the year 2021, the University of Leeds is ranked 91st in the world and 15th in the United Kingdom. Additionally, The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide both recognized the university as their choice for University of the Year in 2017.

According to the 2019 SCImago Institutions Rankings, the university came in at position number 150 among universities located all around the world. In recognition of its contributions to the fields of engineering and science, the Queen’s Anniversary Prize was bestowed upon the University of Leeds in 2009.

This distinction is bestowed upon the university’s Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), which has been recognized as a pioneer in the field of transportation education and research for more than four decades.

In addition to being a founding member of the Russell Group, which is comprised of the most prestigious and research-focused universities in the United Kingdom, the University of Leeds is also a member of the N8 Group for research collaboration, the Worldwide Universities Network, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, the White Rose University Consortium, the Santander Network, and the CDIO Initiative.

The university is also affiliated with other Universities in UK. In addition, the Leeds University Business School is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the Association of MBAs, and the European Quality Improvement System, giving it the so-called “Triple Crown” of business school accreditations.

Scholarship Benefits

Qualified students for Psychology International Excellence Scholarships at the University of Leeds will receive an award of B.Sc Psychology Total: £10,000 and Advanced Psychology MPsyc, B.Sc Total: £10,000 for the academic session 2022/2023.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for Psychology International Excellence Scholarships:

  • Students with an A level (or equivalent) grade of AAA or higher will be considered for the award.
  • Students who complete the University of Leeds International Foundation Year on their own(self funding) will be qualified as well.
