But this led to a name change: the NHH became the Netherlands School of Economics, or NEH (Nederlandse Economische Hogeschool). Over the next few decades, Philosophy, History, Arts, and Business Administration departments were added.

The economics faculty is ranked 9th in Europe (including the UK) and 50th in the world in economics and econometrics and 37th in the world in accounting and finance by the QS World University Rankings 2018. (10th best in Europe).

In 2020, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings put Erasmus University’s Economics and Business program first in the Netherlands, seventh in Europe, and 28th in the world.

Also, the 2018 Shanghai Jiao Tong University Academic Ranking of World Universities lists Erasmus School of Economics as the 9th best economics and business school in Europe and the 32nd best in the world.
