About Flinders University
Flinders University is a South Australian public research university. It was founded in 1966 and named after British navigator Matthew Flinders, who studied and researched the South Australian coastline in the early nineteenth century.
Flinders is a lush university that belongs to the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group. It pioneered a multidisciplinary approach to education, and its faculties of medicine and the humanities are ranked among the top ten in the country.
The main campus of the university is in the Adelaide inner southern suburb of Bedford Park, about 12 kilometers south of the city center. Flinders University also has a presence in Tonsley and Victoria Square in the city center.
External teaching facilities are maintained by Flinders University in regional South Australia, southwest Victoria, and the Northern Territory. International students made up 19.5 percent of the on-campus student population as of 2020, and some off-campus programs are also available, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region.
More than 160 undergraduate and postgraduate courses are available, as well as higher degree research supervision in all disciplines.

Aim and Benefits of Calthorpe Wong Indigenous Medical Scholarship
Those who are granted this scholarship will be given a reward of $20,000 per academic year for an initial period that can last up to four years, provided that they maintain satisfactory academic progress. It has been decided that payments will be made in installments every two weeks.
Requirements for Calthorpe Wong Indigenous Medical Scholarship Qualification
Scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be considered:
- be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
- identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
- be accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived; and
- be registered in the Doctor of Medicine at Flinders University; and
- be able to display financial hardship; and
Students who get this scholarship will not be able to hold any other scholarships at the same time.
Scholarship Interview Date, Process, and Location
The College of Medicine and Public Health, as well as Yunggorendi Student Services and Student Finance and Scholarships, will make the final decision.

Applications for Calthorpe Wong Indigenous Medical Scholarship should be submitted online through the Flinders University Student System by the specified closing date.

As part of the application procedure, the following documents will be required:
Applicants who receive Commonwealth Income Support will be required to show proof of this. This can be accomplished by submitting a recent Centrelink (or DVA) Income Statement demonstrating that you are currently receiving government means-tested payments.
Applicants who do not get Commonwealth Income Support as mentioned above must fill out the Financial Hardship Form, which can be downloaded here.
