The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust is delighted to announce the 2023-24 cycle of the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme, which provides fully-funded scholarships for study at the University of Oxford to university graduates and future leaders.

This scholarship is part of the Oxford Graduate Scholarships, which were founded through a groundbreaking new matched funding initiative to enable the development of fully-funded scholarships for the world’s most talented graduate students.

Oxford is a unique and historic institution being the oldest university in the English-speaking world. There is no established date of establishment, however instruction occurred in some form at Oxford in 1096 and grew rapidly when Henry II prohibited English students from attending the University of Paris in 1167.

Scholarship Benefit

The Oxford Graduate Scholarships were created through a groundbreaking new matched funding program to provide fully financed scholarships to top graduate students from throughout the world. These scholarships are funded 40% by the University and 60% by generous donations from Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust supporters, notably Fondation Hoffmann. Swiss-based Fondation Hoffmann funds actual projects that address global issues.

The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust website describes the Leadership Programme, which is unique to these scholarships.

The scholarship covers 100% of study fees and at least £17,668 in living expenses.

Awards cover the whole course cost liability.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme 2023/24:

  • Applicants must typically reside in one of the qualifying nations.
  • Must reapply for admission in order to enroll in one of the qualified programs.
  • Applicants must intend to return to their home country upon completion of the program.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate a relationship between their field of study and their long-term career goals, elaborating on how they envision their professional activity contributing to the advancement of public life in their home country and on a regional and global scale.

How to apply

Applicants for the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships 2023/24 at the University of Oxford must select “Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme” in the University of Oxford Scholarships section of the University’s graduate application form and submit their application for graduate study by the December or January deadline for their course.

Applicants must submit a Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships Statement with their graduate application by the due date.
