The Playford Trust aims to assist excellent students from rural and remote South Australia who choose to study science, engineering, mathematics, or technology at one of the State’s three public universities as undergraduates.

About the Flinders University

In Adelaide, South Australia, there is a public university called Flinders University. It was established in 1966 and is called in honor of the explorer and surveyor of the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century, Matthew Flinders.

A member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and a verdant university, Flinders is ranked 36th globally and in the top 10 in Australia among institutions founded less than 50 years ago.

The institution established a cross-disciplinary method of teaching, and its faculties of medicine and the humanities are among the top 10 in the country.

Scholarship Benefit

Six grants of $4000 each are given to students starting their first year of university. These unique scholarships will be given to deserving students who will face practical and financial challenges as a result of living away from their family and community.

The subsidies are meant to assist beneficiaries manage the extra costs of living and studying in Adelaide, as well as being distanced from the typical level of family support.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for this scholarship, a student must:

  • Intend to study science, engineering, mathematics, or technology as an undergraduate at one of South Australia’s three public institutions.
  • Be an Australian citizen or a permanent residence visa holder
  • They have a familial basis in the state’s rural and regional areas.
  • With a strong secondary level academic record, demonstrate the potential for great accomplishment. Allowance may be given for practical and other disadvantages associated with the distance from Adelaide.
  • Be a decent person. Students with shown leadership potential will be given priority.
