About the Labex Milyon University

Since 2011, MILYON has been a LabEx (Laboratoire d’Excellence), a center of excellence, led by researchers in the disciplines of mathematics and theoretical computer science at the University of Lyon in the Lyon Saint-Etienne region.

MILYON is one of the Excellence projects that received a LabEx grant (Laboratoire d’Excellence) from the French National Agency for Research (ANR) as part of the program “Investissements d’Avenir” (Investissements d’Avenir) following a first call for ideas in 2010. MILYON is one of twelve LabEx grants given to the University of Lyon.

MILYON, located in the heart of France’s second scientific hub, federates numerous globally known research groups with the goal of establishing Lyon-Saint-Etienne as one of Europe’s top research and higher education institutions for mathematics and computer science. MILYON therefore contributes to the development plan of the University of Lyon and its partner schools.

Scholarship Benefit

The Excellence Laboratory Milyon is offering Licence 3 or Master scholarships of 1 000 euros per month for a period of 10 months, from September 2023 to June 2024. The scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis, subject to labex review.

Eligibility Criteria

Apply for one of the MILYON Master or Licence 3 (just the third year of your license) programs (see the list on the right.)

Candidates must upload the following documents:

• résumé (vitae) (at most 2 pages)
• cover letter
• academic results in scanned form (all university years if available)
• a description of the courses to be taken in 2021-2022 (or 2020-2021 if it is the most recent available)
• two letters of endorsement (one from the tutor in 2021-2022 or 2020-2021)
