A. J. Cook married her longtime companion Nathan Andersen in 2001. Their two children, Mekhai Allan Andersen (born in 2008) and Phoenix Sky Andersen (born in 2015), live in Los Angeles, California. A. J. Cook is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A. J. Cook was born on July 22, 1978, in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, to parents Michael Cook and Sandra Cook. Her three siblings are Nathan Cook, Paul Cook, and Angela Cook.

A. J. Cook got his first acting job in the Goosebumps TV series, which was based on the well-known Goosebumps horror storybook series by American author R. L. Stine. Her later performances were in the TV movies His Father’s Shoes and Elvis Meets Nixon.

In 1999, she made her acting debut in the drama film The Virgin Suicides. She rose to prominence the following year as one of the major characters in the film Higher Ground. The concert was favorably welcomed and performed well. But, due to the sale of its broadcast network, it had to be discontinued after one season.

She played a prominent role in the American supernatural thriller Tru Calling, which premiered on Fox in 2003. The primary character of the show was a medical student interning in a morgue. Her life takes an unexpected turn when a body appears to return to life and begs for help.

Despite its interesting narrative, the show received mediocre ratings in the United States. Matthew Hastings directed A. J. Cook in the 2005 television horror thriller Bloodsuckers. The same year, she began her part on Criminal Minds, her most recognized job to date.

The show was a huge success, receiving several nominations and prizes. It received positive response. She had a cameo in Zackary Adler’s 2006 romantic comedy I’m Reed Fish. The film garnered largely good feedback.

Following that, A. J. Cook appeared in the 2007 horror film Night Sky. The film, directed by Roy Knyrim, is about a group of friends who are abducted by aliens while going to Las Vegas.
