Scholarship Benefit
Costs of tuition, fees, and living expenses, minus the annual contribution that the student and his or her family can make to cover these expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be an international student studying in Canada with a valid Canadian study permit.
- You must enter UBC from a recognized secondary school or from the first year of another institution or university.
- You must have graduated high school no more than one year prior to the beginning of the academic year for which
- you are applying. For instance, applicants for 2023 must not have graduated high school before 2022.
- You must be seeking your first bachelor’s degree.
- You must exhibit high academic achievement (achieve all As or equivalent standard).
- You must demonstrate financial hardship that would prohibit you from obtaining a degree at UBC.

How to apply
Are you interested and qualified? To submit an application, please visit undergraduatescholarships.ubc.ca.
- Review the International Scholars Program application website.
- Determine the academic program you wish to pursue and the campus you wish to attend.
- In order to apply for the International Scholars Program, you must be recommended by your school or non-profit and submit an academic reference.
- Confirm that your institution or organization can nominate you. A school, college, or university may recommend up to three candidates for UBC Vancouver (including Vantage College) and one student for UBC Okanagan. A nonprofit organization may only nominate a high school student who is actively participating in their group. This nomination will count towards the school’s maximum number of nominations.
- Inform your nominator and academic reference of your intention to apply for the International Scholars Program by the November 15 deadline. Your nominator should be your school counselor or an equivalent, and your academic reference should be a someone who is familiar with you and your work, such as your teacher in your intended field of study.
- Confirm that your institution or organization can nominate you. A school, college, or university may recommend up to three candidates for UBC Vancouver (including Vantage College) and one student for UBC Okanagan. A nonprofit organization may only nominate a high school student who is actively participating in their group. This nomination will count towards the school’s maximum number of nominations.
- Assemble the relevant financial information, as well as a list of extracurricular activities and achievements.
- Submit an application for the International Scholars Program before the November 15 deadline.
- Submit your application for admission to UBC by the 1st of December.
