NZ-GRADS is a scholarship encouraging science students from developing nations to pursue a degree at a university in New Zealand.

Scholarship Benefit

The scholarship covers the following for three years (36 months) in total:

  • Annual New Zealand University tuition costs and associated student levies are capped at $10,000 NZD.
  • An annual living allowance of $28,000 New Zealand dollars (tax free)
  • Annual medical insurance coverage of up to $700
  • Visa application fees cannot exceed $1,000.
  • Return flights to New Zealand costing up to $6,00
  • Up to $1,500 book and thesis preparation allowance (one-off)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be citizens of a developing countries, as defined by the International Monetary Fund; and
  • Applicants must possess a Master’s degree or the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with distinction in agriculture, soil science, microbiology, genetics, environmental modelling, plant science, environmental chemistry/science, or a related discipline.
