About National College of Ireland

The National College of Ireland, located in Dublin, is a third-level educational institution that does not operate for profit and receives funding from the state. It was once known as the Catholic Workers College, Dublin, when it was established in 1951 as a result of a collaborative effort between the Irish Jesuits and the Irish Trade Unions.

The college is currently an independent institution that offers full and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate studies in subjects such as psychology, finance, business, and computing.

The courses are taught at the IFSC campus in Dublin and at regional centers across the country. Psychology, human resource management, data analytics, management, cloud computing, fintech, accounting, cybersecurity, education, and finance are some of the specialist areas of National College of Ireland.

The dot conf digital and web technology conference, the Legends in Your Lunchtime series, the Seven Deadly Skills, In the Psychologists’ Chair, and Marketing Mavericks are just a few of the free public events hosted by National College of Ireland.

The Catholic Workers College, Dublin, was founded in Sandford Lodge, Ranelagh, in 1951. Professor Thomas A. Finlay S.J. and Rev. Edmund Kent S.J. were among those active in the college’s early years, which were founded by Fr. Edward Coyne S.J. in collaboration with Trade Unionists like as Walter Beirne.

With 103 registered students in the first year, lectures were conducted by a small group of dependable Jesuits two nights a week. Within ten years, the number of scholars had skyrocketed.

Formal relationships with employer and management groups, as well as connections with trade unions, deteriorated. By 1966, the renamed National College of Industrial Relations had about 1,300 students from trade union and business management backgrounds studying together (NCIR).

A number of the college’s programs were recognized by the state’s National Council for Educational Awards (NCEA), which was the precursor to HETAC, in 1976.

The National College of Ireland (NCI) was renamed in 1998, with an expanded National Campus Network and a variety of outreach activities around the country.

The Jesuits handed the land and buildings at Sandford Road to the College Board of Management as the National College of Ireland grew.
