The Chancerygate Foundation Bursary for African and Caribbean Students at London South Bank University is now available for the 2022–2023 academic year. Both new and current international students may apply to the program.

This bursary is accessible to African and Caribbean applicants who want to study surveying courses leading to RICS accreditation. It will encourage qualified students to pursue long-term careers in real estate.

Scholaarship Benefit

  • Students will earn £10,000 per year for living expenses and access to real work experience opportunities.
    With the exception of students participating in a placement year, the bursary will be paid for each year of study for students enrolled in multi-year degree programs.
  • Bursary awardees will receive a total of £5,000 in two equal payments.
  • The continued receipt of the Bursary is contingent upon students advancing to the next academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students from Africa and the Caribbean are qualified to apply.
  • Eligible Courses or Subjects: The university must offer a bachelor’s degree in BSc building surveying or BSc quantity surveying.
  • Eligibility Requirements: To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
  • You consider yourself to be of African and Caribbean descent.
  • Your annual household income is less than £25,000.
  • You will be under 26 years old when the training begins.
  • You are the first generation in your family to earn a college degree.
  • You identify as having a disability or a specific learning difference.
  • You have spent time in care in the United Kingdom, been placed in care, or your family is estranged.
  • Social services recognize your career as that of a young adult.
  • You will be entering Higher Education with a BTEC as your primary credential.
  • You are a mature student (at least 21 years old on 1 September prior to the start of your programme) who does not hold a bachelor’s degree at this time.

  • How to Apply: Those who want to apply must sign up for the university’s LSBU Online Application System. International college freshmen can apply through UCAS. Please contact us at breakingbarriers@lsbu.ac.uk after that.
  • Supporting Documents: You must include all of the following information with your application (we cannot accept separate supporting documents by email).
  • Statement of Oneself (maximum 250 words per question)
  • Your strengths and what you’ve done well so far. It can be made up of both school and personal accomplishments.
  • What do you want to do after you finish your course?
  • How and why will the money help you with your studies?
  • Requirements for admission: Applicants must meet the criteria for merit and any other requirements.
  • Language: Applicants must check and meet the English language requirements of the university they want to attend.
