About the Cardiff University
Cardiff University is a public research university located in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. It was established in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire; in 1893, it became one of the founding colleges of the University of Wales; and in 1997, it received (but suspended) its own degree-awarding authority.
It adopted the public name of Cardiff University in 1999, and this became its legal name in 2005, when it separated from the University of Wales to become an independent institution that confers its own degrees. It is the only Welsh member of the Russell Group of leading British research universities and is the third-oldest university institution in Wales.

Eligibility Criteria
Conditional offer recipients
- The application deadline for the University is June 16, 2023.
- You must accept your offer and submit your deposit by 30 June 2023, unless your deposit deadline falls after this date, in which case you must submit your deposit by your initial deposit deadline. Extensions of the deposit deadline beyond 30 June 2023 will not be accepted for scholarship purposes.
- You must meet all of the offer conditions, including any English Language requirements, by August 20, 2023.
- Applicants who do not meet the scholarship’s eligibility requirements will not be eligible for the award, even if they are accepted to the university.
Holders of unconditional offers
- The application deadline for the University is June 16, 2023.
- You must accept your offer and submit your deposit by 30 June 2023, unless your deposit deadline falls after this date, in which case you must submit your deposit by your initial deposit deadline. Extensions of the deposit deadline beyond 30 June 2023 will not be accepted for scholarship purposes.
All students
- The Cardiff University £5,000 India Scholarships are restricted to Indian students enrolled in the aforementioned programmes.
- The £5,000 scholarship will be awarded to students who identify as being from India on their course application.
No separate application is required for the scholarship. If you hold an offer for an eligible programme and meet the criteria outlined in the terms and conditions, the scholarships will be automatically awarded upon enrollment.
