Data science scholarships are available at several colleges. We’ve only featured scholarships that are open to all students.

ACM SIGHPC/Intel Computational & Data Science Fellowship

The ACM Special Interest Group on High-Performance Computing (SIGHPC) and Intel offer the $15,000 Computational & Data Science Fellowship to master’s and PhD candidates working with big data.

Minority women and men who have finished less than half of their calculus degrees at licensed U.S. universities are viable candidates.

Application deadline is April 30th yearly.

Acxiom Diversity Scholarship

Acxiom Corporation, a publicly traded marketing analytics company founded in 1969, proudly established the Diversity Scholarship Initiative to award $5,000 to eight full-time faculty students in computer engineering, information technologies, data engineering, statistics, mathematics, data quality, and related fields.

Qualifications include junior rank, ownership of a historically underrepresented minority, a 3.0 GPA, and Acxiom internships.

Application deadline is December 31st annually.

Bill Caspare Diversity Scholarship

The Collective, LLC, launched the $10,000 Bill Caspare Memorial Diversity Scholarship in 2015 to encourage undergrads and postgrads to pursue jobs in new networking, digital advertising, or science.

It’s for black, Hispanic, Native American, multiracial, and LGBTQ applicants.

U.S. citizens or green card holders must study full-time, complete 60+ college credits, maintain a 3.25 GPA, and submit three references.

CA Technologies Women’s Fellowship

The CA Technologies Fellowship for Women, one of the University of Vermont’s lucrative big-data scholarships, covers full tuition up to $14,670 each session for exceptional bachelor’s women pursuing the M.S. in Complex Systems and Data Science.

CA’s Tech Girls Rock Initiative and Anita Borg Institute for Women are included.

Creative thinkers, great communicators, and high-achievers with a 3.0 GPA are likely to become fellows.

Daniel Larose Data-mining Excellence Scholarship

The Daniel Larose Scholarship for Data-mining Excellence, named for the Department of Mathematical Sciences professor, awards $4,000 annually, or $2000 per session, to Central Connecticut State University post-grads who excel in the M.S. program.

Substantial data enthusiasts should have 12+ master’s credits, a cumulative 3.5 GPA, a “B” or better in Stat 520-Stat 527, and outstanding graduate assistant performance.

Application deadline is April 2 yearly.

Fisher Family Fund Fellowship

The Fisher Family Fund Fellowship Program at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte awards $2000 to outstanding graduate students in the Faculty of Computing and Informatics pursuing the Pro M.S. in Data Science and Business Analytics.

Niners must be U.S. taxpayers, permanently reside in Charlotte, have a GPA between 3.74 and 4.00, demonstrate financial need, and take 6 credits per semester.

Apply by May 15th. annually

GAANN PhD Fellowship

GAANN PhD Fellowship at Big Data Computing Research Worcester Polytechnic Institute leverages the U.S. Department of Public Education’s Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Grant to offer six Ph.D. Fellowships at Bigdata Computing Research with full tuition and $34,000 stipends.
Recipients must be national aid eligible under 3 4 CFR75.60, have financial need, and have data analytics capabilities.

Application deadline is November 30th yearly.

HIMSS Minnesota Graduate Health IT Scholarship

Data science and massive medical statistics universities? The HIMSS Minnesota Chapter awards the Graduate Health IT Scholarship for $1,500 to master’s and $2000 to doctoral candidates in quantitative health informatics programs like data analytics or data science.

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota residents with a bachelor’s degree and a 3.0 GPA are eligible.

Application deadline is April 1st yearly.

Ike Wai Graduate Scholarship

The NSF-funded Ike Wai Graduate Scholarship, owned by the EPSCoR Hawaii Program, provides $29,148 per year to full-time graduate research assistants at the University of Hawaii-Manoa pursuing research-based masters or doctoral degrees in geoscience, data engineering, technology, or Hawaiian speech.

These two-year big-data scholarships may require 20 hours a week at an Ike Wai research lab on water security projects for the Aloha State.

In-forms Analytics Society Student Scholarship

The Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences and SAS host the Analytics Society Student Scholarship Competition each spring, awarding $3,000 to faculty students with convincing analytic employment proposals.
Winners get round-trip airfare, lodging, and meals to the INFORMS Annual Seminar. 18-year-olds must submit a resume, two testimonials, three short answer questions, and a five-page career outline.

Data for Public Good Fellowship

The University of California-Berkeley College of Information established the Jack Larson Data for Public-good Fellowship in January 2017 to honor the Haas Hall of Famer who won Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Service Award.

Six Master of Data and Information Technology (MIDS) candidates will be chosen annually for its 8,500 colleges. Big-data postgrads are preferred.

Data Science Lilly Endowment Scholarship

The Lilly Endowment Scholarship at Saint Mary’s College awards $1000 per semester for around $5,000 to outstanding female or male postgrads pursuing the mathematically rigorous M.S. in Data Science program.

Recipients must live in Indiana, have graduated from an authorized Indiana institution within 1-2 weeks, have finished 2 semesters of calculus, have a 3.0 GPA, and have personal programming experience.

Application deadline is June 15th yearly.

Milliman Opportunity Scholarship

The Milliman Opportunity Scholarship Fund, administered by Scholarship America for Chicago Public Schools, awards $5,000 to minority Illinois residents of Black, Latino, American Indian, Native American, or Pacific Islander heritage, including undocumented Dreamers.

Immunology majors like data engineering, data analytics, economics, statistics, math, and computer science require admittance to licensed, post-secondary U.S. colleges without a GPA.

MinneAnalytics Data Science Scholarship

MinneAnalytics, a Minnesota non-profit with over 10,000 members, presents the $1000 Info Science Scholarship before selecting the $5,000 grand prize winner in December.

The Minnesota High Tech Association Foundation offers many scholarships to undergrads and postgrads at licensed instate colleges who are pursuing analytical careers and community involvement. Former receivers attended UM-Duluth, UM-Twin Cities, and Winona State.

Portland DPMA Chapter Scholarships

Since the late 1990s, the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA) Portland Chapter has offered College Bound seniors a $1000 and $500 scholarship to reduce tuition at academic Oregon or Washington universities.

Information engineering, statistics analytics, management information systems, and computer science teams are acceptable. Oregon and Clark County applications are evaluated for academic merit, job opportunity, financial need, and tips.

Students Remote DBA Experts
Remote DBA awarded $1000 through the Pros to Pupils Scholarship in 2015 to senior high school seniors or recent college undergrads pursuing data-focused employment with licensed data engineering, database administration, or data analytics training.

Students with 2.8 GPAs must submit an online application, resume cover letter, and 500-word essay predicting data access changes by 20–40.

Application deadline is May 31st yearly.

Russ Peterson Technology Scholarship

The Russ Peterson Technology Scholarship at the CUNY School of Professional Studies in Manhattan provides over $400,000.

This merit-based app helps full-time students with big-data lifestyle goals who are within 30 credits of completing the B.S. in Information Systems, B.S. in Health Information Management, or M.S. in Data Analytics with a GPA above 3.0.
Bob Martin Memorial Scholarship and Eugene Walters Scholarship.

Powerful Analytics Data Science Scholarship

Powerful Analytics Data Science Scholarship Co-founded by Northwestern Ph.D. grads Brock Ferguson and Jacob Zweig, Powerful Analytics is a Chicago-based big-data startup that awards 1,000 Data Science Scholarships to post-secondary data engineering students.

Applicants must use publicly available data sets to select search questions, code analysis, and provide PDF demos of under-20 slides showing their data customs. Creativity, rigor, clarity, reproducibility, and technique will evaluate projects.

Application deadline is June 1st yearly.

UNCF/Alliance Data Scholarship

UNCF/Alliance Data Scholarship and Internship Alliance Data Systems Corporation and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) award a $5,000 scholarship to minority undergrads at historically Black colleges for bachelor’s degrees in computer information systems, IT management, computer science, statistics science, and digital promotion.

Summer internships in Atlanta, Plano, or Columbus may be subsidized for rising juniors and seniors with a 3.0 GPA.

Application deadline is February 10th yearly.

Bill Inmon Data Analytics Scholarship

The Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals awards $2000 annually to the William “Bill” Union Scholarship for Data Analytics, based on Dr. Kewal Dhariwal and Wade Walker.

The University of Calgary will likely award three renewable big-data scholarships for achievement in data analytics, data mining, and data warehousing Alliance. The James N. Snyder Memorial Award and Pat Cupoli Scholarship are ICCP capital.
