Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) is a graduate research university that aims to advance AI as a global force for humanity. The UAE’s visionary leaders founded MBZUAI to educate and nurture top talent, foster an innovative environment, and serve as a strategic think tank for both the public and private sectors.

 Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Mohamed Bin Zayed University Scholarship program applicant must:

  1. Obtain a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, such as computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, or any appropriate science and engineering major, from a university accredited or recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE).
  2. Have a CGPA of at least 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent.
  3. When submitting an application, applicants should provide their completed degree certificates and valid transcripts.
  4. Senior-level students can apply with a copy of their official transcript and expected graduation letter, and once admitted, they must present the official finished degree certificate and transcript.
  5. To demonstrate English language proficiency, provide authentic TOEFL iBT and IELTS academic certifications (unless exempted).
  6. Graduates who want to pursue a Ph.D. should have a strong ambition to advance science and humanity through cutting-edge research, scientific literature, and thought leadership.
  7. They may wish to work in academia or at a research institute.
  8. They must have obtained either of the following from a university/universities accredited or recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE):
    • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, or other relevant science and engineering disciplines
    • Students should have a solid background in both applied and theoretical computer science, with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or comparable for both degrees.
    • A valid and standard Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test certificate is required for applicants with only a bachelor’s degree.

Award Disbursement

The Mohamed Bin Zayed University Scholarship program is worth:

  • 100% free tuition fee
  • On-campus student accommodation
  • Health insurance and UAE visa sponsorship for non-UAE nationals

International and UAE resident students

  3. Official Bachelor’s degree transcript and degree certificate or expected graduation letter
  4. Official Master’s degree transcript and degree certificate or expected graduation letter (only for PhD applicants with a Master’s degree)
  5. Referee recommendations (minimum of 3 for PhD applicants and 2 for MSc applicants)
  6. Research Statement (only for PhD applicants) (make sure to upload in pdf form)
  7. Statement of Purpose (make sure to upload in pdf form)
  8. Valid English language proficiency certificate (must meet the admission criteria and required upon admission)
  9. Valid passport copy
  10. Valid Pakistan national identity card copy (only for Pakistan nationals)
  11. Photo with white background
  12. Entrance exam (highly recommended but applicants may opt out from the exam)

For UAE nationals

  1. Valid Emirates ID
  2. Valid passport copy with unified ID number
  3. UAE national service completion/exemption letter (only for UAE national males)

Note: 

All applicants with complete files, including the required number of recommendations, will be requested to participate in an online screening exam to determine their knowledge and skills. Guidelines can be found in the entrance criteria section of the offered programs’ websites: Master’s programs | Ph.D. programs. Completing the exam is optional but strongly suggested because it will provide more information to the evaluation committee. Waiving the exam is only recommended for students who can demonstrate significant research abilities, subject matter experience, and technical skills.
