Eligibility Requirements for Maastricht University Fully Funded Scholarship
Massachusetts University Scholarships are awarded based on the eligibility requirements listed below:
- You hold nationality outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam and satisfy the prerequisites to be granted an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.
- You are not a dual citizen from any EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
- You have applied for admission into a participating full-time master’s program of Maastricht University for the academic year 2025-2026.
- You satisfy the specific admission requirements of the UM master program to which you have applied.
- Never participated in degree-seeking higher education programs in the Netherlands. Students who have undergone exchange programs in the Netherlands can apply.
- You are not older than 35 years of age on 1 September 2025.
- You have achieved excellent results during your previous education program, as evidenced by your latest grade transcript showing a GPA of 7,5 out of 10 or higher.
- You can only apply once; therefore, ensure that all documents meet the requirements before starting your application. You cannot add or substitute documents after you press the submit button on your application.
Note: You must visit this website before applying to see which country you have to collect your MVV visa for the Netherlands.
Those who already have a residence permit for another Schengen country will be eligible to apply only if this residence permit will be valid until at least 2 September 2025.
If your residence permit expires before 2 September 2025 you can only apply for the Scholarship from your home country via a MVV visa application.

The application deadline for the Maastricht University Scholarship is 1st February 2025 at 23:59 CET.
Award Disbursement
Scholarship benefits for the Maastricht University Scholarship include:
- Applicants enrolled in the 13-month Master’s Program will be given living expenses of € 15,925.
- Applicants enrolled in the 25-month Master’s Program will be given living expenses of € 30,625.
- Applicants will be given health and liability insurance amounts of €700.
- Applicants will be facilitated with visa applications that cost €207.
- Applicants will be provided a tuition fee.
- Pre-academic training costs will be covered by the UM International Services Des

How to Apply for the Maastricht University Scholarship
Step 1: Register for One of the Participating Master Programmes at UM Master Programs
- For Registration to the UM NL-High Potential Scholarship, the applicant first has to apply for one of the participating master programs and obtain a Student ID-compulsory application for admission.
- Admission details should be checked to ensure they are all met by the scholarship deadline; a GPA minimum of 7.5 out of 10 should be maintained; and official documents obtained from the home university that explain the grading system should be submitted.
Note: Once you have submitted your application via Studielink, you will receive a student ID number for UM. You will need a student number to complete and submit the Scholarship Application Form (see Step 2 below).
