Scholarship Overview

Eligibility

To qualify for the KDU Global IUCEA Scholarship 2026, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Citizenship and Residency:

• You must be a citizen and resident of one of the following EAC member countries: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, or the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Age:

• You must not be older than 22 years of age at the time of application.

Academic Qualifications:

• You must have completed your pre-university level of education in your home country in 2024, 2025, or 2026.
• You must have a minimum grade of B in all mathematics and English modules.
• Excellent overall academic performance is expected and forms the basis of merit-based selection.

English Language Proficiency:

• An English Proficiency Certificate is mandatory for both admission and visa processing.

Eligible Fields of Study

This scholarship is restricted to the following undergraduate degree programs offered at KDU Global in English:

• Bachelor of International Business Administration
• Bachelor of International Hotel Management
• Bachelor of Smart Computing (covering Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and IoT)
• Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence
• Bachelor of Korean Business AI

Students wishing to study subjects outside of these five programs are not eligible for this particular scholarship.

Benefits

The KDU Global IUCEA Scholarship 2026 offers two levels of funding. Read both carefully and decide which you wish to apply for. You may indicate in your application that you wish to be considered for both.

Full Scholarship Benefits:

• Tuition Fees: Full tuition of $8,000 per year for up to 4 years, covered by KDU Global.
• Dormitory Fees: Accommodation costs of $4,400 covered for the first two years by KDU Global.
• Return Airfare: A return air ticket at the beginning and end of the four-year program, provided by IUCEA.
• Health Insurance: Monthly health insurance support for the full 4 years of study, provided by IUCEA.
• Application Fee: The $250 application processing and handling fee is covered by IUCEA after selection.

Partial Scholarship Benefits:

First Semester:

• Full tuition waiver of $4,000 for the first semester, provided by KDU Global, subject to compliance with internal rules.

Second Semester Onwards (performance-based):

• 100% tuition scholarship for students achieving an average mark of 95 or above
• 70% tuition scholarship (student pays $1,200) for an average mark of 90 to 94
• 50% tuition scholarship (student pays $2,000) for an average mark of 80 to 89
• 30% tuition scholarship (student pays $2,800) for an average mark of 75 to 79

Additional Benefit for All Students:

• Part-Time Work Assistance: Students are allowed to work part-time while studying in South Korea. KDU Global provides part-time job placement support, and over 99% of KDU Global students hold part-time jobs.

Note: Under the partial scholarship, students or their parents are responsible for personal expenses including accommodation beyond what is covered, airfare, application fees, and health insurance.

Prepare all of the following documents before submitting your application. All documents must be combined into a single PDF file before submission.

2. Completed hard copy of the application form (download from the official KDU IUCEA portal)
3. Signed Student Code of Conduct form (download from the official portal)
4. Academic transcript showing all grades including mathematics and English results
5. Certificate of Graduation or proof of completion of pre-university education
6. Valid passport copy
7. English proficiency test report (IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 71 minimum; EFSET, Duolingo, and PTE are not accepted)

Step 3: Take your English proficiency test if you have not already done so. Book your IELTS or TOEFL iBT test immediately if your result is not yet available, as it is a mandatory document for both admission and visa processing.

Step 11: If selected, sign the Scholarship Agreement Form by May 29, 2026 and submit your KDU Global admissions documents by June 5, 2026 to proceed with visa processing.

Key Dates and Timeline

Application Deadline

The deadline to submit all application documents to IUCEA is April 30, 2026.

All documents must be combined into one PDF file and sent to the IUCEA contact email addresses listed above by this date. 

Applications submitted after this time will NOT be accepted.

Given the tight timeline between the April 30 deadline and the August 31 program commencement, every step must happen on schedule. Do not delay your submission.

Selection Criteria

The KDU Global IUCEA Scholarship uses a two-stage merit-based selection process. Here is what each stage looks for:

Stage I: Preliminary Selection by IUCEA

Academic Performance: IUCEA reviews all submitted academic records. Students with the strongest grades across all subjects, with particular attention to mathematics and English, will advance to Stage II. A minimum grade of B in these subjects is required, but higher grades give you a stronger chance.

Document Completeness and Accuracy: Incomplete or incorrectly assembled applications will not advance. Every required document must be present, current, and combined into a single PDF.

Stage II: Individual Assessment by KDU Global

Interview Performance: KDU Global conducts individual interviews with shortlisted candidates. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your communication skills, academic ambition, and readiness for undergraduate study in South Korea.

Overall Merit Ranking: Students with the best combined scores across academic performance and interview results are awarded full scholarships. The remaining qualifying students are offered partial scholarships. This means every point in your academic record and every impression made in your interview counts.

English Proficiency: Your IELTS or TOEFL score is used in both the admission and visa process. A score above the minimum strengthens your overall application profile.

Important Tips

1. Submit your application well before April 30, 2026. The timeline between deadline and program commencement is very tight. Delays in submission can cause you to miss the visa processing window, which runs from late June to early July.
2. Do not submit your documents in separate files. The application explicitly requires all documents to be combined into one PDF. Failure to do this can result in your application being disqualified.
3. Email all four contact addresses when submitting. Send your PDF to issa@ku-ac.com, rachel@ku-ac.com, jcw@ku-ac.com, and kdu-iucea@iucea.org simultaneously. Missing any one of these could delay processing.
4. Book your IELTS or TOEFL test immediately if you have not done so. This is the only language test accepted. EFSET, Duolingo, and PTE are explicitly rejected. Processing test results can take weeks, so do not leave this until last.
5. Indicate whether you want to be considered for both full and partial scholarships. Students who only indicate one type may miss out if the full scholarship slots are filled. Expressing interest in both gives you the best chance of receiving any funding.
6. Prepare your bank documentation carefully. The sponsor bank balance requirements are significant: USD 5,000 for full scholarship applicants and USD 16,000 for partial scholarship applicants. Only parents, the applicant themselves, or biological siblings (if parents are deceased) qualify as sponsors. Gather this documentation early as bank statements take time to process.
