About the University Of Sydney
In 1850, when William Charles Wentworth proposed the concept of Australia’s first university, he envisioned “the opportunity for the child of every class to become great and useful to the destiny of this country.” Over the past 160 years, we have remained true to our founding value and mission by promoting inclusion and diversity.
It is the reason why women were admitted alongside male students as early as 1881. Oxford University did not follow suit for another 30 years, and Cambridge University’s Jesus College did not admit female students until 1974.
Scholarship Benefit
A recipient enrolled full-time will receive the scholarship for up to one year at a value of $10,000 per year.
A recipient enrolled part-time and approved to hold the scholarship part-time will receive a $5,000 per year scholarship for up to two years.
