It is the IRCC’s responsibility to provide each institution with a unique DLI number.

You may be asking why is DLI needed?

Well, in the event that a school receives designate status from a provincial or territorial ministry of education, the institution’s ministry will inform the IRCC of this development.

IRCC will now provide the institution with the DLI number after the institution’s designated status has been confirmed.

The provision of a DLI number enables the establishment to take its place among the designated learning schools in Canada.
