He is the family’s first-ever male kid and also the first child to be born into the family.
Ikubor, the just judge, gave birth to Rema. There are rumors that his father, Justice Ikubor, was killed in a hotel room by those who disagreed with his political views.
Benin City, located in the South-South area, is where he was both born and reared. He was born and raised in the state of Edo. His parents brought him up in the Christian religion despite the fact that he grew up in a neighborhood that was comprised of people of many other cultures. This meant that he spent his time on Sundays attending the church in his community to worship God.
After coming to the realization that he was talented in the realm of music when Rema was a teenager, he began to develop an interest in the subject. When he was a student in secondary school, he amazed not only his fellow students but also the entire school with his singing and rapping abilities.
He was the student the teachers picked to represent the school whenever there was a talent event. Even before he graduated from high school, he had already made up his mind that he would pursue a career in music.
Divine Ikubor Education
Rema received both his primary and his secondary education from prestigious, independently run institutions during his time while living in Benin City. He attended Ighile Group Of Schools in Edo State and received his Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) there.
In the year 2021, he was successful in gaining entry at the esteemed University of Lagos to pursue a degree in Creative Arts.
Divine Ikubor Career
Rema did not immediately begin his studies at an institution of higher education following his graduation from high school. During this time, he worked on honing his voice and improving his musicianship in order to pass the time as he awaited good fortune to come his way.
In 2018, after posting a freestyle video of D’Prince’s song “Gucci Gang” on Instagram, his prayers were finally answered and he was able to move on with his life. The video became quite popular on the social media app, and it was brought to D’Prince’s notice. D’Prince was immediately taken by Rema’s ability.
After that, D’Prince, who is not only an A&R but also a talent manager, made contact with Rema and started guiding the development of the younger artist. In 2019, he inked Rema to Jonzing World, which is a Mavin Records offshoot and subsidiary label.
Rema released his self-titled debut effort many months after becoming a member of the Mavin Family. The project was an EP. Iron Man, Corn, Why, and Dumebi are the songs that are included on this extended play (EP), which has a total of four tracks. The extended play quickly climbed to the top spot on Apple Music Nigeria shortly after it was made available to the public. Dumebi and Iron Man are proving to be the most successful songs from this production.
The music video for “Dumebi” was finally made available for viewing on May 21st, 2019, much to the joy of Rema’s ever-expanding following. The video has received more than 50 million views on YouTube ever since it was uploaded there. Ademola Falomo is responsible for both the filming and the direction of the video.
Rema didn’t wait for the excitement of the success of his debut EP to die down before releasing his sophomore release, also in 2019, named Bad Commando. Songs such as “Bad Commando,” “Rewind,” “Boulevard,” “American Love,” and “Spiderman” are included on the extended play. Rema’s popularity skyrocketed thanks in large part to this second initiative, which earned him new followers on a national and worldwide scale.
At the 2019 The Headies, he triumphed over his competitors Fireboy DML and Joeboy to win the Next Rated Artist award, which honored his efforts as a talented singer and composer. He took the trophy back home with him.
Beamer (Bad Boys), Woman, Rainbow, Fame, Ginger Me, Peace of Mind, and Alien were some of the big songs that he released in 2020 and helped him take the music world by storm. As a result, the news that he was nominated for the category of Best Viewers’ Choice: International Act at the 2020 BET awards did not come as a surprise to those who like listening to music. Alongside Wizkid and Burna Boy, he was the third Nigerian artist to compete in this category.
In 2021, Rema was successful in a number of endeavors, including the publication of a few of hit singles, collaborations with other artists, and tours throughout the United States, all while he worked on his debut studio album. In the year 2021, he released songs with titles such as “Soundgasm,” “Bounce,” and “44.”
Rema, a talented musical performer, started his career while he was quite young and still in secondary school. He and Alpha P collaborated to establish a musical ensemble under the moniker RnA, which is an original combination of the first letters of each of their individual band names. The duo of Rema and Alpha P comprised the group RnA, who went on to win the second season of Pikolo’s Dream Alive Talent Show and also acquired a contract with Peak Entertainment.
They are responsible for the release of the song “Mercy,” which was recorded at Dream Alive Studio in Benin, Edo State, and was distributed by Peak Entertainment. The track “Mercy” was followed up by a video that was shot by Whyte House Pictures. Therefore, although Rema was still a combined group with Alpha P, they played at the Glo Slide and Bounce Concert, which increased their visibility and helped the group become more well-known.
