Kevin Wu, best known by his stage name KevJumba, was born on June 12, 1990 in Houston, Texas, in the United States of America. His father, Michael Wu, is an immigrant from Taiwan, and he is employed in the field of computer engineering.

KevJumba received his high school diploma from Clements in Sugar Land, Texas, in 2008, and then attended the University of California, Davis, for a total of two years before withdrawing from school.

While he was working in the entertainment sector, he made his home in the downtown area of Los Angeles. Later, he moved back to his hometown of Houston.

In June of 2015, he was involved in an automobile accident that left him with critical injuries. The month of May 2019 marked the culmination of KevJumba’s studies at the University of Houston, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

After having his video “I Have to Deal With Stereotypes” featured on the homepage of YouTube, he saw a significant increase in the number of people watching it. In this video, he talks about the stereotypes that he has to deal with since he is of Asian descent.

The year that KevJumba was a junior in high school was when he first started posting videos on YouTube. The Los Angeles Times made the comparison between his fanbase and the viewers of the online series Quarterlife on February 26, 2008.

At the time, he had amassed 450,000 views on a video recounting how he had broken his shin, which earned him the title of “semi-well-known YouTube blogger.”

Before being picked up by NBC, the show Quarterlife had just 100,000 viewers on MySpace and 50,000 viewers on YouTube. On the 29th of May, 2008, KevJumba became one of three East Asians under the age of 21 to be among the top five most subscribed users on YouTube.

He had a total of 187,000 subscribers and over 5.9 million views by that time.

A competition for the “longest gaze” was devised by Baron Davis for the website ibeatyou.com, which he and Cash Warren, the husband of Jessica Alba, co-founded in 2008.

The battle was kicked off by Baron Davis by challenging KevJumba, who in turn challenged Jessica Alba, who accepted the challenge and gave her response. 2011 was the year that he first began sharing the stage with Yesterday, Today, Forever (YTF) and other YouTube stars.

The band played their debut show in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 9, 2011, for the very first time. In June of 2012, KevJumba started starring in videos that were uploaded to a new YouTube channel named YOMYOMF. KevJumba Takes All is the name of the show that he hosts.

Since September 27, 2013, there have been no new videos uploaded to the KevJumba channel, and the channel itself has remained offline. As of the month of August 2014, he has more than 3,000,000 subscribers and more than 350,000,000 total views on the videos hosted on his primary channel.
