Algoma University has chosen to grant the Dean’s Award for the academic year 2023-2024 so as to assist international students with the expenditures of studying in Canada.

All international students beginning their first year of study at Algoma University are eligible to apply for the Dean’s award, which is an admission scholarship. For consideration, applicants must have a minimum country-equivalent grade average of B+ in their prior academic work. The Prize is worth $1,000.

  • Criteria for Eligibility: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered:
  • The applicants must be full-time students (24-30 credits over two consecutive terms of study).

  • How to Apply: Students can use the university portal to apply for admission. All qualified students will be taken into account.
  • Documents to Back It Up: The following items must be given to the university by the students:
  • Send copies of all transcripts, including those from high school, diplomas from high school, transcripts from college, and diplomas or degrees from college.
  • Send proof that you can speak and write in English (if applicable)
  • Gap Letter or Letter Explaining the Gap
  • Copy of Study Permit or Visa
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the university’s requirements for that country.
  • Language requirement: The students must send in the results of one of the following English tests:
  • CAEL (paper-based, computer edition, or online) – 60
  • Cambridge English Qualifications – 176
  • Duolingo English Test (DET) – 110
  • IELTS Academic (including IELTS Online) 6.0 overall
  • TOEFL – 550 (paper-based)
  • TOEFL – 79 (Computer or Home Edition)
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic & PTE Academic Online) – 60
