Oluwaferanmi, Solape’s son, celebrated his mother’s accomplishment on Twitter and thanked her for her resilience and tenacity. He said that his mother returned to school because employees of the state government, where she worked, were not eligible for promotions unless they held a bachelor’s degree.

“The state government won’t promote Nurses without a BSc degree beyond grade/level 14 so my mum defied the odds and went back to school when she was well over 50 years old,” Oluwaferanmi stated.

According to Oluwaferanmi, he remembered making fun of her on her first day of the WAEC. She ignored him, his immature actions notwithstanding, and concentrated on her exams. After passing the test, Solape enrolled at Nigeria’s National Open University (NOUN).
