An engineering research team from University of Pretoria has been distinguished with the prestigious National Science and Innovation Award for pioneering low-power integrated circuit designs. Conducted within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Pretoria, the breakthrough architecture reduces thermal dissipation by over forty percent in edge-computing microprocessors.

With global computation demands accelerating exponentially, reducing power consumption in distributed processing chips has emerged as a fundamental physical challenge.
