Everyone makes mistakes. The question is what you do about them. At SchoolNews.info, the rule is simple: if we published something wrong, we say so on the article itself — not buried in a footnote, not in a separate “errata” page no one reads, but at the top of the affected story where the reader who acted on the error can see it immediately.
How corrections appear
A substantive correction — one where the error changes the meaning of the story, such as a wrong deadline, an incorrect scholarship amount, or a misidentified student — is marked with a visible correction notice at the top of the article. The notice states the date, what was originally published, and what the correct information is.
A developing story update — where new information has emerged rather than correcting an error — is marked with an update tag and timestamp. We keep the original text visible rather than replacing it, so the record is clear.
We do not quietly overwrite text and pretend a story was always correct. We do not unpublish stories to avoid accountability. The correction stays on the page alongside the corrected text.
How to report an error
If you have spotted a factual error on SchoolNews.info — a wrong date, an incorrect number, a misnamed person, or a claim that cannot be verified against the source — please email our corrections desk at corrections@schoolnews.info.
Your report is most useful when it includes: the URL of the article, the specific sentence or claim you believe is wrong, and a link to an official source that shows the correct information. University URLs, government portals, and scholarship foundation pages are all accepted. Social media posts are not.
We read every correction request. We respond to all of them within 24 to 48 hours. If the error is confirmed, the correction goes live the same day.
University and institutional representatives
If you represent a university, scholarship organization, or government body and believe we have mischaracterized information about your institution, please contact our editorial desk at editorial@schoolnews.info. Include your name, role, institution, and the specific claim in question. We treat institutional correction requests with the same urgency as reader reports.
What we will not do
We will not remove factually accurate stories on request. We will not alter coverage to reflect a preferred narrative. We will not suppress a correction because it is embarrassing. Our commitment is to the reader who uses this site to make decisions about their education — not to any institution’s public relations team.
