How we report, what we check, and what we will not do.

SchoolNews.info Editorial Standards · Last reviewed September 2026

We summarize. We do not plagiarize.

SchoolNews.info publishes condensed, plain-English summaries of university announcements, scholarship notices, and student milestone stories. We do not reproduce other organizations’ reporting word for word. Our summaries are original writing, drawn from primary institutional sources: official university newsrooms, registrar bulletins, government scholarship portals, and accredited research journals.

Every story published on this site links prominently and permanently to the original source. We name the source organization in the text. If it came from Oxford’s news office, we say “Oxford’s news office.” If it came from the Mastercard Foundation, we say that. The reader should always be able to find the original document within a single click.

We do not publish speculation.

Admission deadlines, scholarship amounts, tuition fees, and eligibility requirements are not published until we have verified them against an active, official source URL. If that URL is broken, we hold the story. If the official statement is vague on a deadline, we say so explicitly rather than guess. We would rather publish less than publish something a student acts on incorrectly.

How we handle academic research stories.

When covering university research breakthroughs, we work from the published abstract, the institution’s press release, and — where accessible — the peer-reviewed paper itself. We do not amplify preliminary findings as settled conclusions. If a study is pre-print, we say pre-print. If the results are contested, we say contested. If the institution’s press release is overselling the findings, we write what the study actually shows.

Advertising does not touch the newsroom.

SchoolNews.info runs Google AdSense advertising. No advertiser has any influence over which stories we cover, how we frame admissions processes, or what we say about any university. Our AdSense disclosure is published in full at /privacy.

If SchoolNews.info ever publishes sponsored content — content paid for by a university, company, or other third party — it will carry an unmistakeable label reading SPONSORED at the top of the page. There is currently no sponsored content on this site.

Corrections.

When we publish an error, we correct it with a visible date-stamped notice on the affected article. We do not quietly overwrite old text. We do not unpublish stories to avoid embarrassment. A correction note explains what was wrong and what it has been changed to. Our corrections policy is at /corrections.

Independence.

SchoolNews.info has no affiliation with any university, government ministry, or scholarship foundation. We receive no funding, partnership fees, or referral payments from any institution whose news we cover. We are an independent operation. Our ability to say “this deadline is wrong” or “this press release is misleading” depends on that independence staying intact.
