Oluwaferanmi Adeyemo, a young Nigerian, received a full scholarship from the Commonwealth and went on to get a master’s degree at the City University of London in the United Kingdom with distinction.
Oluwaferanmi was the recipient of the coveted Commonwealth Scholarship in 2020, which allowed him to pursue a Master of Arts in International Communications and Development at the City, University of London.
One completely financed option to study in the UK is the Commonwealth Scholarship. It pays the chosen candidates’ whole tuition and living expenses in addition to a monthly living allowance of £1,652.
According to Oluwaferanmi, he spent years focusing on how people perceived his shortcomings and incapacity to get the conclusion that he was unfit to do anything significant.
He used the example of telling people he would follow in the footsteps of his late grandpa, the first Nigerian professor of accounting, but that others didn’t think he was intelligent or gifted enough to reach that level.
Oluwaferanmi claimed that as a result, he came to the realization that having faith in God and himself was more significant than having the best intelligence. His accomplishments were the result of his hard work and focus shift toward his dream.
He thanked the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, the City University of London, and everyone else who helped make his success possible.
In addition to his exceptional academic achievements, he claimed that the university taught him how to be more organized, listen more intently, conduct in-depth introspection, and—above all—accept complete responsibility for all of his deeds and inactions.
Oluwaferanmi has two master’s degrees, the second of which is in the arts. He started his undergraduate education in Nigeria at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication.
After completing his first master’s degree in mass communication at the University of Benin, Oluwaferanmi was awarded a Commonwealth scholarship to continue his education in the UK.
He said on Twitter that his mother, Solape Adeyemo, a Commonwealth scholar, motivated him and helped him win the scholarship.
Oluwaferanmi expressed gratitude for his incredible family, instructors, friends, and coworkers, and he was pleased with his progress thus far. He is now looking forward to moving up the next rung on the ladder. He is presently residing at Sheffield Hallam University in England to get his doctorate.
