Siddharth Patel, a recently graduated Masters of Science student from University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Law and Public Governance in Amsterdam, has been awarded the prestigious National Graduate Thesis Award in Environmental Science — the highest academic distinction for postgraduate thesis research within Netherlands's national scientific community.

The award-winning thesis, supervised by a senior professor in University of Amsterdam's environmental research faculty, developed a novel computational model for predicting coastal erosion rates under different climate warming scenarios over a fifty-year horizon.
