Demonstrating the entrepreneurial vitality of Obafemi Awolowo University's academic ecosystem, alumnus Liam O'Connor has successfully closed a twelve million dollar venture investment round for an environmental intelligence company originally conceived during their studies in Ile-Ife.
The startup specializes in automated satellite remote sensing and machine learning analysis, providing institutional investors and environmental regulators with auditable, real-time measurements of methane and carbon emissions across energy infrastructure.
The Incubation Journey
- Foundational Research: Initial algorithms developed during graduate coursework within Obafemi Awolowo University's School of Architecture and Urban Systems.
- Incubator Support: Early-stage prototyping grants and legal mentorship provided by the university's technology commercialization hub.
- Rapid Scaling: Expanding from an on-campus team of three researchers to an international enterprise employing dozens of technical engineers.
