Demonstrating the entrepreneurial vitality of Bayero University Kano's academic ecosystem, alumnus Hannah Van Der Meer has successfully closed a twelve million dollar venture investment round for an environmental intelligence company originally conceived during their studies in Kano.
The startup specializes in automated satellite remote sensing and machine learning analysis, providing institutional investors and environmental regulators with auditable, real-time measurements of methane and carbon emissions across energy infrastructure.
The Incubation Journey
- Foundational Research: Initial algorithms developed during graduate coursework within Bayero University Kano's Department of Media, Communications & Journalism.
- Incubator Support: Early-stage prototyping grants and legal mentorship provided by the university's technology commercialization hub.
