A team of four postgraduate researchers representing Ahmadu Bello University has claimed the top position at the International Universities Debate Championship, focusing this year on climate policy frameworks and the geopolitics of energy transition. Held across three competitive rounds before a panel of senior diplomats and policy scholars, the ABU team delivered consistently compelling, evidence-based arguments.

Coaches and observers praised the team's deep integration of quantitative climate modelling data with accessible rhetorical frameworks, drawing on their academic training in environmental policy at Ahmadu Bello University's Faculty of Social Sciences in Zaria.
