IIT KGP Biomedical Faculty Secures Major Grant for Targeted Immunotherapy Research

A collaborative consortium of clinicians and biochemical researchers at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has been awarded a multi-year research grant to advance targeted molecular immunotherapies. Based at the university's biomedical research complex in Kharagpur, the clinical programme aims to refine precision drug delivery systems for hard-to-treat oncological conditions.

Traditional systemic therapies often encounter resistance or produce severe systemic toxicity. The team's proprietary approach utilizes biocompatible nano-carriers that selectively bind to tumour microenvironments, minimising peripheral tissue damage while maximising therapeutic efficacy.
