Consistent Rise in International Academic Rankings

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has achieved its highest ever position in the annual Global Medical Schools Research Excellence Index, placing the Mumbai-based institution firmly among the world's most productive and impactful medical research centres. The ranking evaluates institutional performance across research output volume, citation impact factor, clinical trial activity, and international collaboration intensity.

The Index is widely regarded among academic administrators, students, and healthcare sector recruiters as one of the most rigorous independent assessments of medical educational quality and research productivity.

Key Performance Indicators

• Research Publication Volume: Sustained year-on-year increases in peer-reviewed articles published in journals indexed by major international scientific databases.
• Clinical Trial Leadership: IIT Bombay medical faculty leads or co-leads a growing portfolio of Phase I to Phase III clinical trials in oncology, infectious disease, and cardiovascular medicine.
• Graduate Placement Rates: An overwhelming majority of IIT Bombay medical graduates secured competitive residency and fellowship positions at leading hospitals within India and internationally within six months of graduation.
