The University of Ilesha has announced a groundbreaking decision to waive tuition fees for students admitted into its education programs starting from the 2024/2025 academic session. This major development was confirmed in a statement by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abimbola Tooki, in Osogbo.
Mr. Tooki explained that students pursuing education degrees at the university will only be required to pay affordable incidental charges, making these programs more accessible. He noted that this move aligns with the strategic vision of Osun State’s Governor, His Excellency Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, to ensure that more qualified teachers are trained and appointed to strengthen the nation’s educational sector, particularly at lower levels.
The university’s decision to implement this policy was driven by concerns over the declining enrollment in education-related programs and the pressing need to revitalize the teaching profession, which faces a potential shortage of qualified educators. Mr. Tooki expressed optimism that this initiative will not only attract more candidates to pursue careers in education but will also contribute positively to the nation’s broader educational objectives.
This tuition waiver will cover a wide range of programs under the Faculty of Education, including:
- B.Ed. Integrated Science
- B.A. Ed. English Language
- B.Sc. Ed. Political Science
- B.Sc. Ed. Economics
- B.Ed. Social Studies
- B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling
- B.Ed. Adult and Continuing Education
- B.Sc. Ed. Agricultural Science
- B.Sc. Ed. Computer Science
- B.A. Ed. Music
- B.A. Ed. Business Education
- B.Sc. Ed. Educational Management
- B.Sc. Ed. Educational Technology
- B.Sc. Ed. Health Education
- B.Sc. Ed. Chemistry Education
- B.Sc. Ed. Physics Education
- B.Sc. Ed. Mathematics Education
- B.Sc. Ed. Environmental Education
This policy shift is expected to take full effect starting from the 2024/2025 academic session. The goal is not only to make education programs more affordable but also to enhance the quality of teaching in Nigeria and prevent the decline of the noble teaching profession.
Interested candidates can apply for the University’s Post-UTME Screening.
