Position Overview
- Title: University Librarian (Principal Officer)
- Reports to: Vice-Chancellor
- Start Date: March 14, 2025
- Tenure: 5 years (with the possibility of a 1-year extension based on performance)
Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire University Library system
- Lead strategic planning and development of library services
- Modernize and digitize the library’s resources
- Collaborate with academic departments and external partners
- Drive innovation in information services across UNILAG’s campuses
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or a related field
- Master’s and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from a recognized university
- Certified by the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN)
- Experience:
- At least 15 years in university library services, with over 10 years in senior management
- Proven academic and administrative leadership
- Extensive scholarly publications
- Current rank of Reader Librarian or Deputy University Librarian
- ICT Skills: Advanced proficiency in information and communication technologies
- Age Limit: Must be under 65 years of age by March 14, 2025
