Tems was born on June 11, 1995, to Mr. and Mrs. Openiyi, a Yoruba family. Her father is British-Nigerian, and she received her British citizenship from him. Her mother is a Nigerian from the South Western area.
Tems was born in the city of Lagos to parents who christened her Temilade Openiyi. She is the family’s second kid and has an elder brother. The Openiyis went to the United Kingdom shortly after her birth, but their stay was cut short when her parents split. As a result, she and her brother returned to Nigeria with their mother.
