Ighalo yet again helps Man United knock Derby County out of FA Cup
Odion Ighalo, a former striker of the Nigerian Super Eagles, scored two goals to help Manchester United to a 3-0 win against Derby County in their FA Cup fifth round tie.
The 30 year old goal scorer confidently showed up a man of the match performance to score both the second and third goal of his Manchester United career.
Despite starting just twice in 6 games, since his arrival from Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League.
Manchester United commenced the goal parade with Luke Shaw’s volley in the 33 minutes of the match before Odion Ighalo, scored a typical strikers’ goals.
The first of his attempt came 4 minutes before the end of the first half.
The Nigerian born striker held two defenders to control Shaw’s pass before slotting the ball into the bottom corner of the post.
Ighalo’s second goal was scored on 70th minute when he shot the ball into the roof of the net after his first attempt was blocked by a defender.
This is however, Ighalo’s first in England since a similar feat for Watford against Liverpool in the year 2015.
The two goals also helped Manchester United extend their unbeaten run to 9 games.
Odion Ighalo, the AFCON 2019 top scorer, who scored his 2 goals from his five shot, could have bagged a hattrick but he blazed high and wide from the penalty area towards the last minutes of the match.
Manchester United has advanced into the quarterfinals of the oldest club competition in the world, where they will face Norwich City.
